Campaigners met with the Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Carlos Raul Morales and

the Director of Bureau of International Humanitarian Law at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mr. Carlos Hugo Avila. At the meeting, it was confirmed that the Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Carlos Raul Morales would be the head of the Guatemalan delegation at the Second Meeting of States Parties in Beirut and Mr. Carlos Hugo Avila will also attend the meeting. It was also discussed that a representative of the Ministry of Defense and/or a representative of the National Commission to prevent armed violence may attend the meeting in Beirut.

Upon suggestions by the campaigners, the Vice-Minister agreed to submit a transparency report in advance of the 2MSP and also to organise a side event on universalisation and the adaptation of the Convention into domestic law at the 2MSP.
