On 1 August at 11:30am there was a drumming celebration in Plaça de Sant Jaume in Barcelona. The organisations involved were Fundació per la Pau, Greenpeace, Justícia i Pau, Moviment per la Pau, Plataforma per la Pau de Lloret, and Setem. Flyers and other materials were provided to participants and spectators in Catalan, Spanish and English. The action was a great success, with over a hundred people concentrating in the square around a professional group of drummers. Media were also invited to cover the event. Midway through the performance, spokespeople for each organisation were invited to speak about the CCM. Jordi Armadans from Fundació per la Pau, Meritxell Bennasar of Greenpeace, and Lucia Oltra from Moviment Per la Pau, explained the relevance of the Convention and the importance of the joint efforts made by civil society to realise these achievements. There was also a celebration on Lloret de Mar on the same day that included drumming activities. The “Beat the drum to ban cluster bombs” logo was displayed on posters in Catalan, Spanish and English.
