COUNTDOWN TO ENTRY INTO FORCE
Lynn Bradach, whose son was killed by a cluster munition in Iraq in 2003, called on drummers to gather in Portland’s Peace Park on Sunday August 1. Campaigners and supporters gathered at the Peace Memorial at the east end of the Steel to celebrate entry into force of the Cluster Munitions Convention.

The WVCBL (West Virginia Campaign to Ban Landmines and Cluster Bombs) and PSALM (Proud Students Against Landmines and Cluster Bombs) organised events to commemorate entry into force day. The City of Morgantown recognized the day with a Proclamation put forth by the city mayor. PSALM/WVCBL members made presentations to city and state leaders and encouraged the public to sign the Peoples Treaty. Throughout the month of August, West Virginia musicians were "drumming" up support by holding music events in the community, and art and banners were displayed at the city art center. The work of PSALM/WVCBL was recognized by City Council and presented with a city Proclamation by the Morgantown Mayor. Also in attendance was a delegation from Guanajuato, their sister city in Mexico. Morgantown’s city newspaper ran an article about the Mayor’s proclamation and CCM's EIF. WVCBL/PSALM has asked state faith organizations to mention the CCM in their services during August.
