COUNTDOWN TO ENTRY INTO FORCE

On 1 August, the Ceasefire Campaign organised an open top bus with drummers that drove through the streets of Johannesburg calling for South Africa to ratify the Convention.

The Institute for Security Studies (ISS) and the ICRC held a panel discussion on the CCM on Friday 30 July at the Pretoria Offices of the Institute for Security Studies (ISS), entitled “The Cluster Munitions Convention 48 hours before its entry into force.” The event was attended by over fifty people, including representatives from SANDF, local embassies and consulates, the United Nations, the ISS, the ICRC, the Ceasefire Campaign and the Media. Local media also covered the Convention’s entry into force, as the seminar highlighted the importance if the issue. For more information see:
