First anniversary of entry into force
On 1 August 2011, the Cluster Munition Coalition (CMC) will celebrate the first anniversary of entry into force of the treaty to ban cluster bombs – the Convention on Cluster Munitions. Across the world in countries where the CMC has members, there will be campaign actions to mark 1 year since the treaty became legally binding.
There were also be media outreach to raise awareness of how the treaty provides solutions to the problems caused by cluster munitions.
A call on all governments to join, implement and promote the treaty
The CMC will take the opportunity to call on all governments to join, implement and promote the treaty. All states should aim to join this important agreement before the Second Meeting of States Parties (2MSP) that will take place in Beirut, Lebabnon – a country affected by cluster bombs – from 12-16 September 2011.
